"It's not you, it's me."Annotation posted July, 30th 2006"It's not you, it's me." was written after having a similar conversation with someone I was dating at the time. The conversation in the strip isn't exactly word for word what was said. Also, in real life we talked it through a little more before settling in for a nice chat. Cartoonist and comedians are often asked where they get their ideas from. This strip is an example of taking a rather mundane event, putting a twist on it and boiling it down to the essential elements necessary for a gag. As a matter of fact, my standard disclaimer to friends and family when something funny happens around me is - "Ok, you realize this is going to end up in a comic strip." |
